Easy Beer Cheese Sauce Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp plain flour
  • 150ml Outland West Coast IPA (or Golden Champion)
  • 120ml whole milk
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 150g mature cheddar, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste

 

Method:

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in flour to make a roux, cooking for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Gradually whisk in the beer, then the milk, until smooth.
  4. Add mustard, garlic powder, and stir in the cheese a handful at a time.
  5. Season, then simmer gently until thick and creamy.
