Transatlantic IPA

with bold citrus notes

The fourth in our series of Founder's Day ales, honouring key figures from Hall & Woodhouse history.

Edward, as he was known, crossed the Atlantic seeking adventure. In time he returned to Dorset and found something better, the love of his life. Edward married Charles Hall's granddaughter Hannah Dodge in 1847 and the two families became one, creating Hall & Woodhouse.

This powerful, bottle-conditioned IPA with bold citrus from American hops celebrates their union and the birth of Hall & Woodhouse. A family legacy that continues to this day.

Malts: Pale, Cara and Munich
Hops: Cascade, Solero, Amarillo, Mosaic, Citra
Bottle conditioned.

FAQs

Questions brewing? You'll find plenty of helpful answers in our FAQs.

As a traditionally brewed, bottle-conditioned ale, Hannah and George Edward's Kindness is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. The live yeast used in the bottle-conditioning process means we cannot make a vegetarian or vegan claim.

We are also unable to confirm whether this beer is gluten-free. As gluten is a regulated allergen, confirming a gluten-free claim requires laboratory testing of every batch. While we're exploring options to introduce this capability in the future, we cannot currently guarantee or verify the gluten content.

The bright citrus character of this limited-edition IPA pairs perfectly with spicy chicken wings or fish & chips - flavours made to be enjoyed together, just like the union it celebrates.

Our bottled ales are best enjoyed lightly chilled, around 10-14°C. Serving Hannah and George Edward's Kindness too cold can mask some of the flavours, while a slightly warmer temperature helps bring out its full character.

Hannah and George Edward's Kindness is a limited-edition beer brewed as part of our Founder's Day collection. Once stocks are gone, it won't be brewed again until we celebrate our 250th birthday!

We'd love to see Hannah and George Edward's Kindness on the bar too. However, as a limited-edition Founder's Day release, it's only available in bottles for a short time and won't be available on cask in our Hall & Woodhouse pubs.

Bottle-conditioned beers contain live yeast that continues to develop the beer's flavour and natural carbonation in the bottle. For the best results, store upright and allow the bottle to settle for at least 24-48 hours before opening. When ready to serve, pour carefully into a glass, leaving any natural yeast sediment behind.
