A strong ale

with warming hints of sherry and port

The second in the series of Founder’s Day beers that celebrate key people from our history.

John and Edward Woodhouse were brothers who brought distinct yet complimentary skills to the important business of brewing characterful ales.

Known affectionately as “The Chairman”, Edward was a keen sportsman and captained Somerset County Cricket before using his insight and vision to modernise the business. John was all about the beer, as head brewer he was constantly innovating and created numerous championship winning ales. Together they epitomised the Teamwork that still runs through Hall & Woodhouse and set the business on firm foundations for the future.

To celebrate we’ve crafted a powerful, bottle-conditioned Stingo Ale, a style made famous by H&W in the 20th century. Brewed to a punchy 9% with a deep chestnut brown colour from the blend of malts and perfectly balanced hops for robustly bitter finish.

Malts: Pale Ale Malt, Crystal, Chocolate
Hops: Target, Progress, Fuggles and Centennial

Contains Malted Barley and Wheat.

Old pale ale. Not too malty. More of an old English IPA. Respect the tradition.

Rich and strong. Warming with dark fruit and a good bitterness.

FAQs

Questions brewing? You'll find plenty of helpful answers in our FAQs.

As a traditionally brewed, bottle-conditioned ale, Teamwork is not suitable for vegetarians or vegans. The live yeast used in the bottle-conditioning process means we cannot make a vegetarian or vegan claim.

We are also unable to confirm whether this beer is gluten-free. As gluten is a regulated allergen, confirming a gluten-free claim requires laboratory testing of every batch. While we're exploring options to introduce this capability in the future, we cannot currently guarantee or verify the gluten content.

Rich, warming and rewarding - our stingo ale is right at home alongside sticky toffee pudding. Proof that some things are better when brought together...

Our bottled ales are best enjoyed lightly chilled, around 10-14°C. Serving Teamwork too cold can mask some of the flavours, while a slightly warmer temperature helps bring out its full character.

Teamwork is a limited-edition beer brewed as part of our Founder's Day collection. Once stocks are gone, it won't be brewed again until we celebrate our 250th birthday!

We'd love to see Teamwork on the bar too. However, as a limited-edition Founder's Day release, it's only available in bottles for a short time and won't be available on cask in our Hall & Woodhouse pubs.

Bottle-conditioned beers contain live yeast that continues to develop the beer's flavour and natural carbonation in the bottle. For the best results, store upright and allow the bottle to settle for at least 24-48 hours before opening. When ready to serve, pour carefully into a glass, leaving any natural yeast sediment behind.
